Two promising young people can study to become English teachers thanks to support from an anonymous sponsor.
The primary focus of the Positive Actions Support Foundation (StOPA for short) is education. In this context, the Youth Training project has been started: the sponsorship of a university education for promising young people.
For the coming academic year, Gilbert Phiri and Munkhani Magenetic have been selected by the Chifira School for training as English teachers. After completing their studies, the students will get a job at the Chifira School.
The University in Mzuzu accepts young students from Chifira once they have obtained their MSCE certificate (Malawi School Certificate Education). All-in, this study costs approximately €2,000 per year, so €8,000 per student for the total study duration.
In the context of “Ownership of the parents”, the school considers it very important that parents not only take responsibility for encouraging and therefore motivating their young people in this study, but also contribute to travel costs and pocket money.
A company that does not wish to be named has sponsored €5,000, so that financing is arranged for the first period.
