26 out of 30 sponsored students passed their exam
In Malawi, parents have to pay for their children's secondary school education themselves. Because many families are too poor to do so, 50 students from the Chifira school have been sponsored by the CBO Mbamba Beach Supports The Community for several years now. The exams are held in grades 2 and 4.
The exam results are now known. Of our 18 students in grade 2, 16 passed and of the 12 in grade 4, 10.
At the start of the new school year, Robert, the Social Wellfare Officer, had a meeting with the students sponsored by the CBO and their parents. He emphasized how important their education is for their future. He used the example of the 2 students who are now going to university. They are also sponsored by the CBO. The parents showed their gratitude. School materials were also distributed at the ceremony.
StOPA aims to increase the number of students to be sponsored annually from 50 to 100.
